8 Ways to Be a More Responsible Traveler (And Why it Matters)

Hello Fellow Travelers!

Has the term ‘responsible travel’ landed on your radar lately? Also known as ‘sustainable’ or ‘ethical’ travel, it’s a concept that’s becoming an important consideration for many travelers when planning their adventures.

I travel for the same reasons most people do; an interest in other people and cultures, a love of nature and wilderness and a deep desire to experience far off places. Like most travelers, I don’t want to cause any harm to the communities or ecosystems I travel through.

That’s the simple idea behind the responsible travel movement. It’s about recognizing that our travels have an impact. It’s about striving to minimize that impact by being mindful of our choices while on the road.

Air Travel Sucks! How to Keep Your Sanity at The Airport

Hello Lovelies!

I love traveling, but I am not a fan of airports, planes or anything to do with flying. I view the whole process of getting from point A to point B as an annoying but necessary evil. With long lines at security, hours of waiting for delayed flights, cramped quarters and continual cutbacks on comforts like leg room and in flight entertainment… flying is a real pain!

While I’m grateful for the fact that modern air travel has opened up the world to everyday travelers like me, I find the experience uncomfortable and stressful overall. Can you relate?

Today I want to share my best strategies for keeping your sanity and staying as comfortable as possible all the way from check in to baggage claim.

Let’s jump right in shall we?

Why You Should Try Traveling Solo

Hello Lovelies!

Have you ever considered traveling solo? Do you think the idea is great, but that you could never do it yourself?

I think everyone should travel solo at least once in their lives. Traveling by yourself has a dimension that traveling with a friend, partner or group doesn’t. It has its own challenges for sure, but the experience can be so much richer.

People can be intimidated by heading into unknown territory by themselves and that’s understandable. Really though, you CAN do this! If I can manage it then you can too, promise!

My first solo adventure to South Africa was about eight months in the making and it took a lot of saving, research and planning to put together. Was it worth the hard work? Absolutely yes! The experience gave me back so much more than it cost. It helped me develop a greater sense of confidence and self assurance. It helped me to better understand what I want to accomplish in my career and how I want to prioritize my day to day life.

Why Travel is Important

Hello Lovelies!

Do you make travel a priority in your life? It’s easy to list off the many reasons not to travel. Expensive, difficult, don’t have the time, can’t get off work etc. But what about the reasons to travel? We have a tendency to think of travel as a luxury or an indulgence. We don’t prioritize making room for it in our lives and that’s a shame.

Travel is an amazing tool to build confidence, foster self improvement, increase our knowledge of the world and develop empathy for the people we share it with.
